Letter to Mrs Naomi King: Appreciation for the Legacy

Good morning Mrs. Naomi Ruth Barber King,

It was a pleasure attending the DARING TO DREAM: SELMA TO UMASS BOSTON,
UMASS BOSTON TO SELMA event at UMass Boston on April 17, 2015, hearing
about your husband, Rev. A.D. King (I was not aware that Dr. Martin
Luther King had a brother) and taking pictures with you. I am contacting
you to request copies of the pictures that I took with you. There are
about 5: several were taken while I had my magenta jacket and
multi-colored head wrap on (with abstract designs) and the remaining
pictures were taken (without my jacket) wearing a black tee shirt with "
MSBC women's ministry" (in white letters) written on the front.

Thank you for your commitment to youth. I have volunteered in support of
youth for approximately 10 or more years (Professional Facepainting at
the City of Boston events, with the Urban League, the tutoring program
at my father-in laws church, Northeastern University(my former employer
of approximately 11 years, until 2011. For the past 3 years I have been
the Coordinator of the Vesta Rd. Community Revitalization Block Party.
We are looking forward to our 4th annual event on August 15, 2015. Our
street (Vesta Rd) was known as one of the "hot spots" of Dorchester, MA.
It was common to see the police riding through on a regular basis,
numerous times a day. Prostitution, hearing gun shots, often, along with
drug traffic fights and disconnected neighbors etc.. It simply was not
safe for the children to play on the street as I enjoyed as a child. I
was inspired to coordinate the event to promote: unity among residents
and allies with the public service workers, police in particular,
leadership, to encourage youth and other residents to successfully
complete primary and higher education, to expose neighbors to various
career options. My primary inspiration for the event was in response to
the troubling memorials of slain youth that "lined" the streets of our
community in Dorchester, MA. I have spent the past 3-4 years reinventing
myself and transitioning from the Sponsored Research Field at
Northeastern University, where I worked for approximately 11 years
(Pre-award/Post-award Grant and Contract/Financial Analyst). I am
striving to seeking my niche in support of promoting success for youth,
which I am very passionate about. Attending the event has given me
additional inspiration to support our youth. I am proud to share that
the event has fostered unity on our street and among the neighbors.
There was not one...altercation over the past 3 years on the day of the
event and they have drastically reduced, in general. Neighbors,
merchants and other professionals volunteered their time, have donated
money, food (multi-cultural) for the event to continue to be a success.
We give away boxes of books, enjoy music, black history, relay races,
raffles, dance contests. The police cruise, Emergency Medical Service
truck, Fire truck, Community service ice cream truck and the K-9 Unit
provided presentations that enthralled young and elderly. I was overcome
with emotions to see our youth/community enjoying these service workers
in a more positive lights. Hopefully

Again, it was such a pleasure meeting you and supporting Rev. A.D. King
Foundation on behalf of youth. I am in the process of reading the book
that you endorsed.

Peace, Love and Many Blessings.

DARING TO DREAM: SELMA TO UMASS BOSTON, UMASS BOSTON TO SELMA
Mrs. Naomi King will share her thoughts about Selma, Ferguson and the
conditions we face today. As Common worth in his song Glory, "No one can
win the war individually. It takes the wisdom of the elders and young
people's energy." Today's battle requires new energy, innovative
thinking, and the collective wisdom of those who want change.

Dear Mrs. King and Dr. Babs

Thank you for the outstanding support for us throughout the week especially at the Living the Dream Leadership Dinner and subsequent events. It was a wonderful opportunity meet you and really an honor to present our efforts to end homelessness. The atmosphere at each event was very encouraging.

We are really grateful and look forward to working with all of you in the coming months.

Regards

Aditya and Nitish Sood

Dear Ms. King,

It was so nice to meet you at the IIPT conference in Johannesburg. You are so gracious and warm. Your talk was inspiring and still rings in my ears.

Attached is a photo of a Blue Morpho butterfly. It was taken in Guyana, SA, where I have worked a lot and which has many of these beauties.

Please accept my apologies for taking to send the photo. I hope you enjoy it.

I also sent you a package with a day calendar, which was designed by a friend-colleague of mine in Bolivia. She has done a lot for artisan development there, serving her community as you do. Also included was a butterfly from AtBC www.aboriginalbc.com, an organization I have been involved with for decades and which forwards peace and cross cultural understanding through cultural tourism. I hope these small tokens have reached you already.

Warmest Regards

Judy Karwacki

Dear Ms. King:

On behalf of myself, IIPT Board Chairman, Timothy Marshall, Bernadette Nickol, Kunjal Charadva and other members of the IIPT Organizing team, may we express our sincere gratitude and appreciation for honoring IIPT with your presence and excellent contribution as a keynote speaker during the IIPT World Symposium: Cultivating Sustainable and Peaceful Communities and Nations through Tourism, Culture and Sport held this past month at Emperors Palace, Ekurhuleni, South Africa.

Your beautiful and ever-present smile and contagious charisma ignited an immediate bonding of love and friendship among all you graciously and tirelessly met – and it seems you met everyone – particularly each of the youth taking part in the Symposium. Your presence certainly contributed to the “spirit” that pervaded the Symposium from the very beginning til the remaining dancers left the Gala dinner.

Your loving smile reminded me of one of favorite quotes from Mother Teresa – “Smile – a smile is the beginning of peace” – and yours was captured on every camera at the Symposium!

Our March newsletter reporting on the Symposium will be going out in the days ahead through the on-going support of IIPT Media Partner, eTurbo News. You can access the newsletter at: http://www.iipt.org/newsletter/2015/march2015.html

Our next newsletter will feature the significant outcomes that resulted from the Symposium. I look forward to sustaining our friendship and collaboration. With warm regards and appreciation –

Respectfully,

Louis D’Amore

Good morning,

It was such a pleasure the welcome you to the Umstead Hotel and Spa this weekend. I was fortunate enough to take a picture with Mrs. King when she departed, and I was wondering if you could send me a copy of it? I was the blond reception agent yesterday morning and the picture was taken on the front drive of the hotel.

Our two bellman (Bobby and Francis) also had a picture taken and would love a copy of it if it is not an inconvenience for you.

Thank you for your consideration. Again, it was a pleasure meeting you both and we hope to welcome you back to our hotel in the future.

Sincerely,

Jessica Van Wart

Dear Ms. Naomi Ruth Barber King,

How are you? You can't imagine how excited I was in meeting you.  I hope you had a safe trip back home.  I'm greatly interested in connecting with you and your foundation!
I'm still high off the spirit of fellow marchers during the JUBILEE celebration of the past weekend.  I hope you're enjoying reading my book, "Don't Worry About The Mule Going Blind."
I look forward to hearing from you.
God Bless you

Racial Killing in Florida

Dr. Naomi Ruth King condemns in its strongest possible terms the cowardly act of discriminately, killing three innocent people randomly just because of their race in Jacksonville, Florida. This is an injustice and atrocity committed against humanity by a white supremacy bigot and his hatred ideology. Dr. King stated that injustice anywhere…
