SUMMARY:Chancellor's Gala
DESCRIPTION:The A.D. King Foundation will welcome 50 Nigerian Chancell
ors (Nigerian Universities) to Atlanta Georgia on Monday May 17-23, 20
15.\nThe Chancellor’s mission is to visit and observe strategies of
colleges and businesses that are successfully using entrepreneurial mo
dels which directly affect young leaders and entrepreneurs and to repl
icate these models in Nigeria to showcase how entrepreneurship can dev
elop. We have organized a GALA on May 22, 2015 at 7:00 pm,(Westin Atla
nta Hotel) designed to engage the Chancellors with Atlanta’s busines
s and education leaders while enjoying the cultural ambiance of Nigeri
a.\nThe Nigerian economy, historically, has depended significantly on
oil revenues. As the country tries to diversify away from dependence o
n oil forward thinking Nigerian leaders understand how important entre
preneurship is to the future of the Nigerian economy. The vision of Ni
geria is to become one of the world’s top 20 economies during the ne
xt two decades. Currently, it is rated as the largest economy in Afric
a with GPD estimate at 515.431 billion dollars, followed by Egypt and
South Africa with GPD estimate at 324.267 and 323.809 respectively. Ni
geria has a population of about 173,600,000 (2013). In order to hit th
at target by 2020, Nigeria will need to increasingly globalize educati
on in two key areas: Information and communications technology, and en
trepreneurship.\nAt least 60% of graduates are not able to get employm
ent immediately. Because of that, people go into one entrepreneurial v
enture or another, but unfortunately they have not been adequately pre
pared to face the challenges of venturing. It has become necessary for
the Educators of higher learning to put “entrepreneurial studies”
into the curriculum in developing these graduates.\nThere are a few f
actors that present challenges to Nigeria’s entrepreneur’s; Market
s, Infrastructure, lack of vision and dreams, Access to Financing, Pro
duction, Reform/Regulations and Entrepreneurial curriculum.\nThe confe
rence will focus on Entrepreneurship as a new paradigm shift in moving
Nigeria economic development forward. There will be discussions on In
vestments, Regulations and Reform, Curriculum Development, Finance, In
frastructure, Transitioning from Oil to Entrepreneurism, Information,
Technology and the Entrepreneur and Media/Film Production.\n \n\nFor
