Solicit Corporate To Sponsor Floats For Low Income Kids at Elementary, Middle and High Schools

The unalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is only for those who are prepared. Education is the key and vehicle to that future. The epidemic failure of our educational system is at an alarming stage, and the future of our kids are endangered or at best non-existence.

In our state of Georgia over 60,000 of young people did not complete high school successfully this year alone. In five years about 60% of this population will be dead or incarcerated. This is the challenge we must address as a community, as a state and as a nation, otherwise, our nation will cease to exist as a super power and the hope and future of America is at risk.

King Empowerment parade is designed to bring awareness to this epidemic problem, promote excellent educational strategies, show case talents, pride, embrace educational values, mentoring, coaching, and prescriptive intervention methods and practices.
I need your help to get corporate to sponsor floats for low-income kids at elementary, middle and high schools...the parade of Hope for the future of America.

Will you join me in this effort? We must not fail; we cannot fail. It is a task that must be done for our sake and that of our future generation.

Can I count on you? Are you in? Can we do it together? I am ready are you?

Welcome ideas , strategies and feedback!!!

Dr. Babs this article is a wake up call amongst our communities, and schools. It saddens me that so many people aren't able to finish their education and even quit before they finish. I commend your effort, and the cause you fight for. We can not continue to look over those who are without and in need. Although we have a diplomas and degree's or on the verge of gaining either or. What about those who struggle or simply give up? I feel this cause is important and you have my effort, and willingness to do what it takes to help those and to eliminate these high and shocking statistics. We can not continue turning or heads and ignoring issues such as these, if a person fails or can't get pass a classroom room environment, how will they survive in society?

I agree with you completely about education.  I think education is very important in everyones future . I think it's unfortunate that amount of children didn't complete high school. It is a good idea what you are trying to do , and I think people should help and join as a start to a better future for our children.

As a education major i am all for improving Georgia's school system and I belive that it all start with in the community. And I think that this is a very good idea.

This is a very valid point and view. Our future is in our children today. Train a child up in the way that they shall GO!

That is so true Dr.Babs. We are living in a time where fortune and fame has become the foundation of our morals. Therefore, children can't seem to find their own identity in a society that tells them how to dress, act and think. For this reason, how can we expect the youth to apsire to do somthing more? That's why it is truely a blessing to know that there are still people left in this world who cares enough to educate and incourage our youth by being an example.

I'm glad SOMEONE noticed that our education system is screwed up. As it stands, something must be done and done fast. I think that our society would benefit if we stopped "giving" our students grades and making them earn them. Too many teachers are not holding their students accountable for their performance and just "give" them grades based on pity. What happened to teaching that student to become better?

It is deeply saddening to see the youth of America (specifically the African American youth) falling vicitm to this growing epidemic. Unfortunately, I feel that despite the community's best efforts - people cannot be helped, unles they are first willing to help THEMSELVES. The old adage goes, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink."
We can make countless avenues of empowerment and awareness available to the Georgia community, we can go above and beyond in providing positive stimuli and assistance at every turn, but it may all be in vain if the intended audience is not receptive to the help offered. If young people would RATHER engage in miscreant behavior as opposed to furthering their education, no amount of prodding will get them to do otherwise.
I am disheartened by my generations lack of drive, and penchant towards laziness, and hate to waste my time trying to force unwilling persons to better themselves.
Show me a determined young person, and I will show him the tools he needs to improve.

It is sad to see more and more high school drop outs with each new passing generation. As the years go by it seems that education is dwindling and and violence is increasing. A proper approach must be taken towards it and change the outcome and this is a profound way to go about it.

I believe that this is a great idea. I think that it is horrible that so many kids did not graduate. The youth is our future and as we get older we depend on them to change the world and make it better, but how can this be if they are not educated nor aware of the things around them. Education is the key to success and young men and women should take control of it because education will take them very far in life.
