In this critical time in the world, teens are in danger of being murdered by police, when our newspapers and television screens are filled with images of military tanks and rifles poised at innocent citizens protesting peacefully – all in living color – it is time to speak out. It is time to reflect on another time in history, the Civil Rights Movement, when we saw similar images – in black and white.

The Principles of Non-Violence taught and implemented by Martin Luther King Jr. and Rev. A.D. King are more relevant and needed than ever.

On September 12, 2014, at The Standard Club in Chicago, Mrs. Naomi Ruth Barber King, widow of Rev. A.D. King and Chairman Emeritus of the A.D King Foundation, will share her stories about the Civil Rights Movement from her newly-released book, A.D. and M.L. King…Two Brothers, Who Dared to Dream. The I Have A Dream Campaign, which inspires children to think, believe, dream and dared, a revolutionary process of transformation of the body, mind and spirit will be unveiled, and The Right To Dream Movement, which transitions from the Civil Rights Movement to inspire everyone to live their dreams, will also be introduced. The new sub-conscious message should be “entrepreneurship is the new black” rather than “orange is the new black." (orange is the color of the jail uniforms)

Mrs. King has decided that it is time to speak out and to revisit the conversation surrounding race relations and to help actualize the precepts of love, peace, equality and non-violence.

Rev. A.D. King was the younger brother of Martin Luther King Jr. and an important Civil Rights Leader. The A.D. King Foundation is a non-violent conflict resolution entity whose mission is to promote youth empowerment development and non-violent social change strategies as a way of life throughout the world.

The Right to Dream Movement is dedicated to changing images and actions of violence to visions and actions of peace and non-violence…in living color, vibrant colors that blend together for the betterment of all humankind. 

Almost four decades later, Naomi King is speaking out to let the world know that it is time to embrace our diversity by moving from division to unity, doubt to hope and from hate to love.
