Allegations unfounded: The truth shall set you free

Let it be known that the Atlanta delegation was invited by President through the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President Foreign Affairs and Diaspora to attend the 1st Black History Month in Nigeria.

We further received a letter of confirmation from the same office which stated “ I write to inform you that all arrangements for your visit to Nigeria for the Black History Month, Nigeria….have virtually been concluded. While we look forward to receiving you, I assure you of a memorable and eventful stay in Nigeria” signed by Hon. Abike Dabiri_Erewa.

With the assurances in writing, on the first night of our arrival, I had to pay for the hotel, food, and incidentals for the delegate. We missed our connecting flight from Lagos to Abuja. On the third day, we were locked out of the hotel and I had to pay transcorp Hilton for the delegation accommodations, meals, and others. I paid all expenses in Badagry.

We have not received a single dime from anyone including honorarium. We are grateful for the invitation; the delegation had a wonderful experience and felt the genuine warmth and the rich culture of the people of Nigeria.

We are non-partisan, it is unfortunate that Mr. Isaac Newton Farris’s opinion or comments were taken out of context.
