Event Description

YES Class of 2012 commencement is scheduled for Saturday, July 14, 2012 – 1:00 p.m. at The Atlanta Life Building. There
will be at least 40 graduates celebrating the achievement of their GED (General Education Diploma).

May is the month thousands of young people throughout Georgia march across stages to accept their high school diplomas.
This momentous occasion represents the culmination of a journey of at least twelve years of dedication and focus. Unfortunately,
thousands of others did not make that trip. They are the ongoing numbers of high school dropouts indicative of a crisis happening, not
only in Georgia, but throughout America. Last year alone, more than 60,000 young people did not graduate in Georgia (Alliance on
Excellent Education) and more than 1 million throughout our nation. About 10% of all high schools produce more than 40% of the
nation’s dropout and are often referred to as dropout factories (Alliance for Excellent Education). With an ever-demanding global
economy and the need for a highly skilled workforce, it is evident that partnerships must be formed to address this pandemic.

Racial Killing in Florida

Dr. Naomi Ruth King condemns in its strongest possible terms the cowardly act of discriminately, killing three innocent people randomly just because of their race in Jacksonville, Florida. This is an injustice and atrocity committed against humanity by a white supremacy bigot and his hatred ideology. Dr. King stated that injustice anywhere…
